Astier | Paris

Updated: Aug 4, 2018

I was craving for an all out French - butter overload - cheesy extravagance. And Astier in the 11th arrondissement delivered just that.

The decor is exactly what you want - a simple bistro. Most tables are taken up by the French elderly deep in discussion about politics whilst sipping their fourth glass of Burgundy (the wine list has 350+ wines).

“I would suggest you get one from each course and then the cheese. You won't regret it!”

The restaurant was opened by Mr and Mrs Astier in 1956. Since then it has changed hands many times and is now run by chefs Cyril Boulet (Robuchon, Troisgros and Marc Meneau) and Mathieu Le Tirrand (ex Alain Dutournier).

What? Where?

A classic French bistro with a welcoming staff. Go hungry!
